Students Taking Action on Right to Health
Global Health Action Campaign - the Right to Health
PHR's Global Health Action Campaign works with health professionals, students and concerned citizens to advocate for effective, well-funded, integrated health systems that are equitable and accessible to all.
GHAC directs the power of our health professional constituency to address a broad set of global health challenges within the framework of the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health (the Right to Health). PHR brings to this broader mission our emphasis on poor and marginalized populations, on evidence-based approaches, on health system strengthening, and on all the elements of a Right to Health approach.

Our goal is to promote integrated, equitable and accessible health systems that address complex and interconnected issues beyond the AIDS epidemic, including the devastating rates of maternal morbidity and mortality in much of the world. Many of the same factors hindering our response to HIV/AIDS also hinder the response to maternal mortality and other significant health disparities: insufficient resources, fragile health systems, severe health worker shortages, and lack of attention to the underlying social, cultural and economic determinants of health.
GHAC continues PHR's strong tradition of mobilizing health professionals and students for research, education and advocacy, and help ensure that health professionals are at the forefront of US global health policy. Students play a vital role in ensuring that the Right to Health is realized. As the future health workforce, you have the power to greatly influence the integration of a Right to Health approach in the health sector.
