PHR Urges APA to Prohibit CIA Tactics and End Psychologist Involvement in Interrogations
As the American Psychological Association (APA) holds its national convention in San Francisco August 17 - 20, PHR has called on the APA's Council of Representatives to pass resolutions declaring the CIA's "enhanced" interrogation techniques unethical and place a moratorium on psychologist participation in all national security interrogations. PHR has also strongly recommended key amendments to the pending resolution prohibiting APA member involvement in certain tactics in order to ensure that no loopholes exist in the resolution that could allow certain types of techniques to be administered by mental health professionals.
