"We have the institutions, we have the places of work, but there’s no one there to work. So it means that we’re training people who don’t help us… they’re trained, they go away."

Joseph Saye, third year nursing student at the University of Nairobi

From June 30 – July 7 2007, health students at the University of Nairobi and Kenya Medical Training College held their first-ever AIDS Week of Action under the theme "Health Students Uniting towards Excellence in the Health Workforce."

The week focused on increasing support for Kenya’s health workforce as a key step in stemming the country’s HIV/AIDS epidemic. Students facilitated a weeklong program of events designed to build unity in demanding a response to the health workforce crisis in Kenya among health students from different disciplines, university professors and health professionals.
