Valli Sanmugalingam works closely with PHR’s director of development to coordinate mail and online solicitation and stewardship communications to donors and prospects and manage the production process of materials.
Prior to joining PHR, she was the border state coordinator for Organizing for America in Reno, Nevada, where she managed logistics for out-of-state campaign volunteers. Sanmugalingam has an extensive background in grassroots advocacy, serving for a number of years as the advocacy director for People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL). She has worked with lawmakers and constituents to pass legislation holding the Sri Lankan government accountable for human rights violations.
She also completed internships at United to End Genocide, the Podesta Group, and the office of Majority Leader Harry Reid. She has long been engaged with the human rights community and is using her skills to further the mission of PHR.
Sanmugalingam holds a BA in international studies with a concentration in peace and conflict resolution from American University. She is fluent in Tamil.
