Sandra Sjögren, MA
Sandra Sjögren is responsible for coordinating the Program on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), based in Bukavu, South Kivu. In addition to leadership and programmatic support, Sjögren develops new international and in-country partnerships. She also provides support for the training of legal and medical experts to investigate and document cases of sexual violence resulting from conflict in the DRC.
Sjögren previously worked as a program development officer at Heartland Alliance International in the DRC, focused on the areas of mental health, human rights, and the mining sector. From 2012 to 2013, she conducted in-depth research in an American reintegration facility, looking at the role that social relationships play for the formerly incarcerated.
Sjögren holds an MA in international studies from the University of Oregon and a BA in political science from the University of Paris-Sorbonne.
