Racha Mouawieh

Racha Mouawieh

Racha Mouawieh provides research support to the investigations team, primarily working on PHR’s Syria mapping project. She coordinates English and Arabic research on attacks on health care in Syria, in addition to organizing and analyzing data and corroborating attacks.

Prior to joining PHR, Mouawieh worked as the Syria and Lebanon Research Assistant with Human Rights Watch (HRW), researching refugee and detainee issues, indiscriminate attacks, use of banned weapons, besieged areas, and attacks on health care. Her research and documentation contributed to HRW’s report “If the Dead Could Speak,” analyzing the Caesar photographs of people who died in Syria’s detention centers. Prior to working at HRW, Racha worked as a legal officer with the International Rescue Committee’s Beirut office. She conducted mobile field visits, identified legal needs, and provided on-site counseling to refugees.

Mouawieh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, an LLM in International Law, and an MA in Social Development Studies, all from the Sorbonne University in Paris. Mouawieh is fluent in Arabic and French.
