Maureen Viata Muthinzi

Maureen Viata Muthinzi

Maureen Muthinzi provides programmatic, training, administrative, logistical, and advocacy support for the Program on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones in Kenya. She manages networks through capacity development and identifying interventions to be considered in cross-sectoral trainings and nurtures the growing pool of trainers within the local networks. She also manages the contact and media databases, internal financial reporting, accounting, payroll and human resources record-keeping and handles logistics for PHR’s trainings on the collection and documentation of court-admissible evidence of sexual violence.

Muthinzi has six years of experience working on women’s issues, democracy and governance, and sexual and gender-based violence. She previously worked at the Education Center for Women in Democracy Kenya as a program officer in the democracy and governance department. Prior to that, she worked as a program intern at Lea-Toto in Kawangware under Nyumbani Children’s Home advocating for HIV/AIDS children and vulnerable people. She also serves as a member of the board of directors of Watoto Watch Network.

Muthinzi holds a master’s degree in strategic management from Daystar University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in community development and peace studies from Daystar University, and a diploma in human resource management at St. Paul’s University. She is fluent in English, Swahili, and Kamba.
