Internships at PHR
Interns are critical to the work we do at PHR. In these volunteer positions, interns provide support to staff in various ways, including in their research of human rights violations and in organizing investigations, documentation, and advocacy on select human rights issues.
About PHR
PHR was founded in 1986 on the idea that health professionals, with their specialized skills, ethical duties, and credible voices, are uniquely positioned to investigate the health consequences of human rights violations and work to stop them. We are supported by the expertise and passion of health professionals and concerned citizens alike, and especially by the dedicated professionals who work directly for PHR.
Our research and investigations take us to international conflict zones such as the Congo, Burma, Bahrain, and Afghanistan as well as to US prisons and immigration detention centers — and our advocacy brings us to the offices of national and international policymakers. The courts, decision makers, and the media have come to rely on our credibility and expertise. Motivated by moral urgency, based on science, and anchored in international human rights standards, PHR’s advocacy advances global health and protects human rights.
We are headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with an office in Washington, DC.
