Nizam Peerwani, MD

Dr. Nizam Peerwani is the chief medical examiner for Tarrant, Denton, Parker, and Johnson counties in the state of Texas. He serves as a commissioner on the Texas Forensic Science Commission (gubernatorial appointment) as well as on the Scientific Advisory Board at the Texas State Fire Marshalls Office.

As an advocate of human rights and a forensic advisor for Physicians for Human Rights, Dr. Peerwani has carried out assessments in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Cyprus, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, and Rwanda for genocide and human rights violations under the auspices of United Nations tribunals.

Dr. Peerwani is an advocate of child safety and served on the Texas Child Fatality Review Committee as an expert in forensic medicine. He is academically affiliated with the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Wesleyan University, and American University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Nizam Peerwani is a graduate of the American University of Beirut. He completed his residency in pathology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, and is board-certified in clinical, anatomic, and forensic pathology.
